Emma Pinnix is a native of Boone and has been dancing since the age of three.  Her training in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, musical theatre and contemporary led to become a company member of The Carolina Snowbelles where she performed in the annual Christmas show as well as the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Millennium Stage in Washington DC.  Emma’s training continued at Ad Deum Dance Company’s summer intensive in Houston, TX and The Rockette Summer Intensive in NYC. After working in the professional dance company Arrows International in Oklahoma for two years where she toured to Costa Rica, Peru, and Southeast Asia she has returned to Boone to invest her love and passion for dance into the lives of area youth in the high country.  She is thrilled to continue performing with The Carolina Snowbelles, teaching classes, and serving as the Director of Studio Life at The Space @ Project Dance where her role will include organizing social events, creating a monthly newsletter and running our social media platforms.

Madelyn Shepard is a junior at Appalachian State University majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education. Alongside her academic pursuits, she has been deeply involved in the performing arts for over 15 years. She trained as a competitive dancer at Studio Bleu Dance Center and had the honor of performing down Main Street, USA in Disney World in both 2016 and 2022, as well as closing the Fred & Astaire Broadway Awards Show in New York City in 2022. She spent seven years as a member of the JAM Youth Project, a pre-professional tap dance company, which helped shape her passion for performance and mentorship. On campus, she is an active member of the Syncopation Tap Club, and has recently joined the faculty at The Space at Project Dance. She is thrilled to be co-directing Camp of the Arts with Emma, where she looks forward to helping young people grow both artistically and personally.
